3-Nitrosalicylic acid
3-Nitrosalicylic acid is a chemical that is used as an inhibitor for corrosion. It can be used to prevent corrosion in wastewater systems, and it is also used as a protective coating for metals. 3-Nitrosalicylic acid has been shown to be effective against a variety of particle sizes, including fine particles at low concentrations. 3-Nitrosalicylic acid can be synthesized by reacting 5-nitrosalicylic acid with ammonia, hydrogen chloride, and zinc oxide in water. The reaction solution should be neutralized with sodium hydroxide and then hydrogenated using sodium dithionite or sodium sulfite. 3-Nitrosalicylic acid has been shown to inhibit the corrosion of metal surfaces and to function as an effective dose in the synthetic pathway for polymers.
3-Nitrosalicylic acid has high concentrations around pH 9.5, which can be reduced by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
